See all our photos from Raiatea.
We rented a Toyota Hilux truck for the day and drove around the island. Our first stop was a pearl farm. Karen bought a pearl bracelet for about $60. It is very unique, all the pearls are differently shaped, some have colored stripes and others have small pearls growing from the larger pearl.

Our next stop was a botanical garden. It was set up into zones with the different plants native to the area in each zone, dry, temperate, wet, etc.

Marae Taputapuatea, our next stop located on the southeast coast of Raiatea, is the most important Polynesian religious site and cultural center. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, this ancient complex served as the political, ceremonial, and spiritual hub for Eastern Polynesia for centuries.

After leaving the UNESCO site, we spend the rest of the day just enjoying the beauty of the island.
