This is our first port of 9 in Japan. Our plan was to be our own and take the train to Kumamoto and explore. But we once again woke up to a rainy day so we ended up just exploring the very cute port area of Yatsushiro. There were lots of shops and some food trucks and a very nice park and garden area. We started by exploring the park because the rain stopped for a bit. They are very big on this bear, and he was everywhere.
They also had a Japanese garden that was very nice.
And of course, more bears in the Garden.
There were zodiac bears.
There was a bear choir.
And a huge bear, look at Ken for scale.
We then visited the food truck area and got “real Texas” tacos and bacon wrapped deep fried rice on a stick???? Yeah!
We bought a few things and headed back to the ship as the rain was on and off. Tomorrow the weather should be better.
