Day Day 59 Mar 5, Melbourne Australia

See all of our photos from Melbourne Australia.

Today we spent the day with our good friends Tina and Peter. Frist we drove to Healesville Sanctuary, about 1 1/2 hours from the port up into the hills. After a wonderful visit seeing many of Australia’s animals, we did a wine tasting at one of the many vineyards in the area. We chose not to eat lunch there but instead, drive back to Melbourne and had lunch at the University Cafe, an Italian resturant that opened in 1954. It is was on Lygon Street which at one time was Melbourne’s Little Italy. We finished the day with gelato at Brenetti’s in the same area.

We only took pictures at Healsville Sanctuary. Of course, we saw Kolas.

We also so Kangaroos including Grey, Red, and Tree varaties.

There was a couple of Dingo. We were surprised they just looked like a regular dog.

There were tons of different kinds of birds such as Emu….

and giant pelicans….

and huge stork.

There were also lots of other interesting birds that we don’t remember the names, like these guys with the yellow tufts on their heads.

and this little guy trying to build a nest.

and many others.

It was a great day and we drove back to the port and had to say our farewells and safe travels. Hopefully we can all do another cruise together again soon.
