Days 83 Mar 29 Saigon Vietnam

See all of our photos of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).

Today, we took a group tour with 5 couples. We will be with this group for all of the Vietnam ports of call.

After an 1.5 hour ride from the port of Phuy My into Saigon, officially Ho Chi Minh City, we began with our first stop at the Old Post Office. This historical building with its classic architecture, which remains an active postal facility and a popular tourist spot.

Next, we made a quick photo stop at the Independence Palace, also known as Reunification Palace, this was the presidential residence during the Vietnam War. Although you’ll stop for photos, the tour doesn’t include entry into the building.

Our next stop was at the War Remnants Museum. This museum provides insights into the Vietnam War and its impact on the country. It houses a collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits related to the conflict. We didn’t take any photos here. After about a 40 minute stop, we made a quick stop at a lacquer art factory and bought a few beautiful items.

It was time for a yummy lunch of Pho and other goodies.

We were off again to the Thien Hau Pagoda. Located in the bustling Chinatown area, this pagoda is dedicated to the Chinese sea goddess Mazu. Its intricate Chinese-style architecture and traditional practices offer a glimpse into local culture and history.

We finished our tour with a 1 hour Trishaw Ride: Take a scenic ride through the city.

We ended our ride at the opera house and Saigon City Hall.

Tomorrow we visit Nha Trang for more adventures.
